At 62 years old, Madam Goh is an ordinary woman,
but an extraordinary mother.
For many years, she worked as a hawker, doing everything she could to raise her three children. Life was never easy or luxurious, but through hard work and perseverance, the family managed to live a simple and stable life.
However, life has continued to test this family.
Recently, her husband’s business failed, leaving the family burdened with a huge amount of debt. Under immense financial pressure, the family was forced to move from place to place, while much of the savings her children had worked so hard to accumulate were spent on rental deposits.
Even more heartbreaking, one of her children had become a guarantor for the debt.
Despite earning only a modest income, the child now has to shoulder this overwhelming financial burden. With the family already struggling to make ends meet, they simply cannot afford the medical equipment required for their mother’s surgery.
Meanwhile, Madam Goh has been silently enduring the pain caused by her knee condition.
For more than ten years, she has struggled to climb stairs, been unable to squat, and unable to stand for long periods of time.
Simple movements that most of us take for granted have become a painful struggle she has had to endure every single day.
It was never because she did not want to undergo surgery.
She was afraid that the cost would place an even greater burden on her children.She also worried that after surgery, she would need someone to care for her, affecting her children’s work and daily lives.
So she chose to endure the pain herself, putting off her own treatment again and again.
Until recently, when her doctor told her firmly: “You really cannot delay the surgery any longer.”
If treatment continues to be postponed, her knee condition may deteriorate further and could eventually affect her ability to move normally.
After hearing the doctor’s warning, Madam Goh finally gathered the courage to undergo surgery.But once again, financial reality stood in her way.
With the family already overwhelmed by debt, the most urgent need now is to raise RM7,000 for the medical equipment required for her surgery.
To some, RM7,000 may simply be a number.
But to this family, it is a barrier they are struggling to overcome.A mother who has devoted most of her life to her family should not lose the opportunity to stand on her feet again simply because of financial hardship.
