【Dad, I Just Hope You’ll Get Better Soon… Please Don’t Leave Us So Soon】

As she said these words, 44-year-old Esther Chan could no longer hold back her tears.

She is afraid that one day, she may no longer have the chance to be by her father’s side.

At 44, Esther Chan is the eldest daughter in her family.

Unmarried, she has spent many years staying by her parents’ side, quietly taking care of their daily needs.

Her father is retired, and his health has gradually declined with age. Her mother, meanwhile, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and still requires regular chemotherapy.

Recently, her 74-year-old father, Chan Sin Hoong, was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA).

While he sleeps, his airway repeatedly becomes blocked, causing his body to experience recurring drops in oxygen levels.

Not only does this prevent him from getting proper rest, but over time, it may also increase the risk of complications involving his lung function, heart health, stroke, and high blood pressure.

His doctor has therefore advised him to begin using a CPAP machine as soon as possible to improve his breathing during sleep and reduce the risk of further complications.

However, for this family, the RM6,000 cost of a CPAP machine is a heavy medical burden.

On one side is a mother who still requires ongoing chemotherapy. On the other is a father who urgently needs treatment.

With her modest income, Esther Chan is already struggling under the weight of daily living expenses and medical costs.

During the interview, when we asked Esther Chan about her father, she fell silent for a few seconds.

Then, she could no longer hold back her tears.

Choking back her emotions, she said:

“It breaks my heart to see my father like this. I hope he won’t be so negative. I just hope he can recover soon, get better, and… not leave us so soon.”

At 44, Esther Chan has yet to start a family of her own.

Every day, she takes care of her father and accompanies her mother for chemotherapy.

Day after day, she has never complained about how difficult things have been for her.

But the moment she spoke about her father

she cried.

All she hopes for is for her father to be able to sleep peacefully.

She hopes that every morning when he wakes up, he can continue to be there with his family.

Today, we sincerely appeal to the public to help us raise RM6,000 for 74-year-old Chan Sin Hoong to purchase the CPAP machine recommended by his doctor, so that he can begin treatment as soon as possible.

Every contribution is more than just helping to purchase a piece of medical equipment.

It is a chance to help a retired father have more precious time with his family.

And it is also a chance to help a daughter who has quietly devoted herself to caring for her parents fulfil her simplest, yet deepest wish

that her father will not leave them so soon.
