RIKA is 35 years old, fighting with all her strength against a relapse of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). This is the 5th chemotherapy of her life. But this time, the cancer cells are more aggressive than ever before. Her doctor has been candid: She must complete Stem Cell Collection as soon as possible any delay could cause her condition to deteriorate rapidly.
This family has already done everything they can to bear the medical costs. Her husband suffered a stroke in 2022, and is now only able to manage light work, with very little income. To keep his wife's treatment going, the family has pawned all their gold jewelry, and even sold their Viva car. Everything that could be sold, has nearly all been sold.
What breaks the heart the most is this her child often gently encourages his mother:
"Mummy, you have to keep going." "Don't give up. Everything will be alright."
Such simple words, yet they carry a child's most sincere and heartfelt wish. He doesn't fully understand what leukemia is he only knows that he hopes his mother can stay by his side.
The estimated total cost for the Stem Cell Collection and related medical expenses is approximately RM30,000. To continue the treatment, this family has sold everything they possibly could, and has managed to raise half of the medical fees.
Yet even so, to complete this critical procedure, they are still short:【RM15,000】.
For a family that has already exhausted every last resource, this final gap remains an almost insurmountable hurdle.
